X Factor Sensation: Save Goldie Cheung From The BBC, Tories And Yoko Ono’s Pyjamas
THE X Factor was memorable for one thing last night: Goldie Cheung, the answer to question what do you get if you cross Tina Turner and Yoko Ono?
Sad news is that Goldie has left the show. She has quit the contest’s live rounds (no, gun).
The Mail caught up with Goldie at her home in Skelmersdale, Lancashire:
Asked if she had left the show, Ms Cheung, who was still dressed in her pyjamas at 4.30pm [Yoko was naked], said: ‘No, I haven’t left the show. Who told you that? I haven’t even told anyone that. I cannot speak to you. The X Factor have told me I can’t give any interviews.’
All that comes beneath the headline:
Goldie quits X Factor … for making fun of her and using her as a ‘joke act’
Lara Gould sticks to her sources:
Despite her sudden exit from the show, Ms Cheung features heavily in tonight’s and next week’s programmes, which were filmed more than three weeks ago.
This seems a bit odd. The woman says she has not left, but the paper pretty much calls her a liar.
The Mail adds:
A source said her decision to leave was triggered by discussions with her husband, David Webb, 52, who used to work for Chris Patten, the former British Governor of Hong Kong. Mr Patten is now chairman of the BBC.
Can it be that the Mail is using Goldie’s pyjamas to hit the BBC, its pet hate?
Of course, it might all be PR nonsense, and Kelly Rowland might be on message when she says:
“I cannot see this competition without Goldie.”
Look out for a SAVE GOLDIE campaign arriving in a tabloid soon…
