Manchester Riots Airbrushed From Official Manchester Police Figures

by | 5th, October 2011

DID you know that the riots in Manchester Never happened? An Anorak reader sends us this from the Manchester Evening News:

Revealed: How the Manchester riots were airbrushed from official crime statistics for August

Data released by the government on the street level police.uk crime maps show the number of offences reported in the riot hotspots actually went down in August compared to previous months.

There were just 21 crimes reported in the smashed up shopping precincts of St Ann’s Square during the whole month of August – the lowest figure for four months. Similarly, the number of crimes in Market Street, the scene of widespread looting, dropped to 42 in August from 49 in the previous month. And in Piccadilly Gardens, where many shops were raided, there was no sign of the rioting in the official figures which show saw a fall from 81 offences in July to just 63 in August.

How so:

A GMP spokesman said: “If there were 100 people responsible for looting a branch of Tesco, that would be investigated as one offence.”

Is this because the crime is victim focused? So, a gang rape is one crime? Three men killed by speeding car in Birmingham during the riots is how many crimes?

Is it all a campaign to hit targets and recognise that the riots were an unusual event..?
