How Does Matt Baker Sleep At Night: BBC Apologises For One Show Anti-Tory Bias At Dale Farm
WHEN BBC TV presenter Matt Baker asked David Cameron “Just one more question – how on earth do you sleep at night?” his The One Show co-presenter Alex Jones gasped.
Was his question biased?
Well, The One Show produced a segment on the Dale Farm eviction that was biased towards the travellers.
Matt Baker did not challenge a traveller who said that families were “thrown out on the road with nowhere to go“, and that Travellers had failed to get planning permission “because they were treated differently to other people“.
The council had offered housing to homeless Traveller families, and the row was over green belt land, not race.
BBC Trust says the studio discussion produced the “overall impression that was unfair to the [Tory-led] council“.
“It was the cumulative effect of the filmed item combined with the live studio discussion that together left the overall impression that the programme had failed to achieve due impartiality.”
A BBC spokesman trills:
“We note the findings which we have taken very seriously. The One Show has reviewed and will continue to strengthen its editorial procedures to ensure accuracy, fairness and due impartiality on all the programme’s output.”
Meanwhile, Popbitch alleges Baker – his wages paid by the BBC TV licence fee – owns a GBP1.5m house in the Chilterns, drives a GBP60k Range Rover Sport and his wife drives a GBP45k E-class Mercedes.
How does he sleep at night? About as well as David Cameron, we’d expect…
