Christmas in Iran: Photos of Santa and nuclear trees
WHAT’S Christmas like in Iran for Christians? Well, it exists. But Christians who have converted from Islam can be tried for apostasy and spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic.
Also tress can be expensive:
A two-metre real tree is a luxury item that can cost the equivalent of 1,000 US dollars, while a cheaper and smaller plastic version sells for 100 dollars or less.
Iran is believed to be working on a nuclear programme that will make it possible for Christmas trees to be grown all year around and sold cheaply. But the Americans and Israel want to put an end to it. Nuclear power is also great for roasting chestnuts.
