City of London Bank robber handed cashier gun
POLICE are hunting the man who robbed the Halifax bank in Cheapside in the City of London and in the process handed the cashier his gun.
The would-be robber, disguised in sunglasses and a flat cap, demanded £700,000 in cash. He then handed the cashier a bag – containing his gun – before realising his error and making off on a stolen bank worker’s bike.
The bank has posted a £25,000 reward.
Say the police:
“This man is not the sharpest tool in the box. The guess is that he is very inexperienced and panicked when he approached the cashier, handing over his gun instead of a bag by mistake.”
If you know of any hapless, greedy robbers working in the City of London, tell your local Church and the HR department at Goldman Sachs…
