Wiltshire pigeon feeders given Abos

by | 11th, January 2012

THE Pigeon Ladies of Trowbridge – Danuta Rogowa, 76, and Margaret Ann Reynolds, 68 – have been handed Asbos for feeding the birds every day for years. Wiltshire Council demanded they stop feeding the pigeosn, but Rogowa and Reynolds refused.

Rogowa and Reynolds must for the next five years not “excessively feed any wildlife or birds; purchase more than 3kg of bird feed or more than three loaves of bread per day; shout at or verbally abuse others for the next five years”.

Shouting at pigeons is fine.

Says Cllr Keith Humphries:

“Regrettably we have had to take this action in the interest of public health to protect residents and visitors to the town. However, we will continue to offer support to the ladies, as we recognise this is a very sensitive issue.”

A third pigeon women, Terese Wozniak, 70, had her Asbo case adjourned at North Wiltshire Magistrates Court in Chippenham. She will reappear in February.

Anorak wonders why the women can’t be ferried to another place and allowed the feed the flying rats there. Give them a Des O’Connor casette tape on the stereo and Hamlin is but a short ride away…
