Terror police stop animal rights protester filming a pet store
MORE signs of power gone mad now as we look at Ali Firth, 49, who was filming a protest outside outside Bramley pet supermarket Dogs 4 Us. An officer of the law approaches and tells Firth that she must stop filming. A police community support officer tells her the animals rights group “is connected to known terrorists”. The copper says unless she stops he will seize her camera.
All nonsense, of course. The Kafka-esque stand-off is then made better, or worse when Firth asks the PCO if he can tell her what the group is called.
PCO: “No – it would breach data protection.”
Ms Firth complains.
A West Yorkshire police spokesman says figure in the uniform has been “advised accordingly”. But hat ab out the copper who appears, fails to listen and then leaves him to it?
Is this what terrorism legislation has down to Britain – made us fearful and curtailed our freedoms?
