Wild bear gets head stuck in a jug – and other animals in peril (photos)
ANIMALS with their Heads Stuck in Things of the Day is the bear spotted by Michael Schuler with its noggin in a plastic jug at the top of Ketchikan’s Deer Mountain in Alaska. Says he:
“I knew it wasn’t a marten, … so I thought it was either a bear cub or a wolverine. A bear cub I can handle, but if it’s a wolverine and I pull that thing off, I’m toast…I finally just decided to have a go at this…I was basically able to sit on him, hold him by the scruff and make a slice into the neck of the jar [with an ice axe].”
How does a jar get up a mountain? Is there a shop up there the bears keep to themselves?
