Manchester man blames steak and ale pie for drink driving ban
TO Manchester, where Lee Handford, 38, seeks to explain his postive breathalyzer reading by blaming the booze on a steak and ale pie he’d eaten.
Handford tells magistrates in Macclesfield that before he was stopped in Little Bollington, Cheshire, he had drunk a little and eaten a steak and ale pie for dinner. Says he:
“I am truly sorry for what I did. It will affect me for the rest of my life. I will likely lose my job. I didn’t feel like I had drank excessively. The steak and ale pie may have taken me over the limit.”
Magistrates duly handed Handford a driving ban for 16 months, fined him £165 and ordered him to pay £85 costs.
