Dead woman’s fat sets crematorium on fire
WHEN a large women was cremated in Graz, Austria, her fat blocked an air filter causing the entire venue to burn to the ground.
The woman, who weighed, 440-pounds, overheated the crematorium’s filter system.
Former Graz city fire chief Otto Widetschek says that crematoria need to be adapted to melt the fat:
“In Switzerland, there is now a special crematorium for XXL-bodies.”
You’d think the pragmatic Swiss would have created a system of fat harvesting, whereby the dead are used to power a small town, merchant bank or inner-city KFC. The less said about Austrians and their traditional enthusiasm for burning bodies – aka evidence – the better. Perhaps it was the danger of fire that caused the Austrians to ensure that the dead were very thin before setting them alight?
