Willy the cockatoo has been trained to call the neighbour a ‘whore’
TO Rhode Island, where Kathy Melker and Craig Fontaine are rowing with neighbours Lynne Taylor and Chris Levasseur over a bird. Melker says Taylor calls her nasty things and hurls vile insults. And so too does Taylor’s umbrella cockatoo, Willy.
Melker says that since June 2011 Willy the cockatoo has been calling her a “fucking whore” for up to sixteen hours a day. Says she:
“It’s directed exactly at me, I’m 53 years old and I’ve never been called a fucking whore in my life. This woman is a lunatic.”
Fontaine and Taylor used to be married. Taylor lived next door, leaving when she had an affair with Levasseur. She took their pet bird with her. Fontaine says he taught the bird to say things like “Hello,” “Whatcha’ doing?” and “I love you.”
“After she moved out, she trained it to say, ‘F*ck you. When Kathy moved in, she trained it to scream, ‘f*cking whore.’”
Taylor then painted a huge likeness fo Willy on the side of her home that faces Melker and Fontaine’s pad.
Anorak wonders if the bird can talk at all. How tempting it would be to buy a talking bird and then blame it for the yelled profanities. It might be the vey thing a human who buys a cockatoo and calls it Willy would find funny…
