ChidLine founder Estzer Rantzen says she ignored Jimmy Savile child abuse stories
ESTHER Rantzen sinks her choppers into the Jimmy Savile child rapist allegations. The former BBC presenter says of her now dead BBC colleague in the ITV documentary Exposure: The Other Side of Jimmy Savile:
“We all blocked our ears to the gossip.”
That’s the same Esther Rantzen who set up ChildLine in 1986, a confidential phone service for under 19s to open up about abuse. As she said:
“There’s so much pain in life that you can’t avoid, but I don’t think there’s any cause more crucial than protecting children from the avoidable pain.”
Unless you’re ears are blocked and the abuser’s a colleague?
The BBC have got some explaining to do.
