Turkey: Apocalypse hotspot

by | 11th, December 2012

THE end of the world is clearly nigh. Badgers are trying to kill us and catfish will almost certainly be eating us whole very soon. Even the Australian PM has warned us of an imminent end-game. The only thing left for us to do is grab the popcorn and watch the horror unfurl.

And where’s the best place to do it? TURKEY! How seasonal.

That’s right. Followers of the Mayan calendar’s prediction of the end of the world in 2012 are convinced that it’ll all start hitting the fan on December 21st in the village of Sirince. That means Doomsday will occur in a village of around 600 people.

Presumably, it’ll spread from there.

New Age spiritualists claim this tiny village is close to where Virgin Mary ascended to heaven and so, with all this, this piddling little village could be swarmed upon by over 60,000 nutters.

“It is the first time we witness such an interest during the winter season,” hotel owner Ilkan Gulgun was quoted as saying. Turkish businessman and expert chancer, Erkan Onoglu, has wisely decided to cash-in by producing a special ‘wine of the Apocalypse’ for December 21st.

Turkey. A lovely place to see the world end.
