John Stewart says Hugh Grant is his worst guest ever
HUGH Grant, Bit of a dick. We like freedom of expression. We like free speech. We don’t like “buts”. Hugh Grant told the Leveson Inquiry that tabloids had “nurtured a culture of pure evil”. You had to laugh. Here was the luvie using the language of the tabloids (evil paedos etc.) he hates.
Grant went on the telly to talk with, Jon Stewart. The satirist told Stephen Colbert what he made of Grant:
Stewart’s least favourite guest of all time is Hugh Grant, “and we’ve had dictators on the show”. Grant spent his time at the studio complaining that he had other places to be. “He’s giving everyone shit the whole time, and he’s a big pain in the ass,” Stewart recalled. Grant also complained to the staff about the clip that was selected of the movie he was promoting, Did You Hear About the Morgans? – a clip that was obviously supplied by the film’s publicist. Stewart recalls Grant angrily asking “What is that clip? It’s a terrible clip.” “Well, then make a better fucking movie,” Stewart said, adding that he would “never” have Grant back.
And that’s in the public interest, Hugh. It was he who utter who “is better to decide whether a piece of journalism is in the public interest or not? Would that not be a judge, or would that be a the tabloid editor who stands to profit commercially from the piece.”
In Grant’s world the public interest is defined by the elite. What an arsehat.
