School pastor stuck in handcuffs and mouth gag
WITH police to St. Aloysius church, Springfield, Illinois, affiliated with St. Aloysius School.
The cops have received a call from the rectory. Father Tom Donovan has told them:
“I’m going to need help getting out before this becomes a medical emergency.”
The dispatcher asks: “You’re stuck in a pair of handcuffs?”
Donovan: “(I was) playing with them and I need help getting out.”
At the rectory, police find a gag.
Donovan is freed. Bishop Thomas Paprocki has granted Donovan’s request for a leave of absence.
Kathie Sass, spokeswoman for the Diocese of Springfield, tells us:
“I wouldn’t be able to tell you where Father Donovan is. There’s a matter of privacy there… He came to the bishop before anyone was aware of the incident. He came to the bishop and asked for help and was granted leave.”
He came to the bishop before he called the police?
