Don’t laugh, but Coca Cola have made this video about obesity
THOSE scamps at Coca-Cola have decided to make a little film about obesity. Why are you laughing and snorting in derision? What’s that? Because Coke could well be responsible for a load of us being toothless and overweight? Ah, gotcha!
In the video, Coca-Cola look at what they’re doing to combat obesity. They talk about how they’ve got 180 low or no-calorie beverages. How’s about that? Obviously, far and away their most popular drink is the remarkably unhealthy Coke original, but that’s beside the point, right?
A spokesman for Coca-Cola North America told The AP: “There’s an important conversation going on about obesity out there, and we want to be a part of the conversation.”
Do we need to talk about aspartame (or NutraSweet as it used to be marketed) consumption yet? A lot of ‘diet’ drinks contain an assload of chemicals that isn’t sugar (which your body needs, for the record), and that’s never sounded too great.
Elsewhere, Michael Jacobson – executive director for the Center for Science in the Public Interest – lambasted this, saying: “It looks like a page out of ‘damage control 101’. They’re trying to disarm the public.”
Of course, it is always darkly hilarious when a junk food company tries to get all cuddly-wuddly with everyone (think of McDonald’s trilling about their reduction of salt in their food and healthy-looking green and brown packaging), when really, wouldn’t it be much better if they all sold themselves as dangerously bad for you?
Wouldn’t you prefer junk food to be honest, like Pot Noodle did, calling themselves the slags of snacks?
