£62 linesman punished by stupid idiots running football
FOOTBALL these days, brings more misery and frustration than cheer. So when something brilliant and remarkable happens, you cherish it. And then, inevitably, a footballing body ruins it for everyone. Think of the AC Milan players gallantly walking off during a match because of racist abuse. They were brave, strong and bold… and then Sepp Blatter opened his stupid cakehole and said players shouldn’t stand up for themselves and that they were ‘running away’ from the problem.
And now our footballing organisations are at it.
Remember the brilliant clip of the linesman at the Manchester City/Arsenal game, telling the City players to applaud their fans as they’d paid £62 for a ticket?
It was a magnificent thing which everyone, Arsenal fans included, revelled in. Well, the linesman in question – John Brooks – has been punished by the FA for saying: “They’ve paid 62 quid over there – go and see them.”
Professional Game Match Officials Limited have removed Brooks from tonight’s FA Cup match between West Brom and QPR as a result of his clearly tremendous actions. He’ll now be replaced by Dave Bryan.
Well done football. You’ve sullied a fabulous gesture which thrilled football fans to the core, and stifled yet another bit of the human element of the game, which is the thing we all adore the most.
Idiots.
