On guns, rape and Jerome McCorry
THE gun debate rages. Do guns prevent rape? First up, we go to Montgomery County, where Erin was at home with her young son when three masked men broke into her home.
“I threw the cover over my son and I took off running, screaming to the living room to let my dogs out. When I saw three of them, I knew I was in a lot of trouble. I said, ‘The TV is the most expensive thing I own. You could take that through the front door and go with it,’ and they said, ‘No, the money, the money,'” said Erin.
Erin said she had to think fast as the men headed towards her son’s room. The mom said she distracted the men as she rushed to get her gun.
“Somehow the way it happened, as they were going down the hallway, I told them sometimes I keep money under the mattress, which is not true. But I needed to get to where my gun was,” she said.
The men followed her to her bedroom.
The men produced a roll of duct rape. The dogs ran in. The men turned their attention for just long enough:
“They all turned around and looked. I grabbed my gun, cocked it, I turned and shot him right in the stomach,” said Erin.
The wounded man wrestled the gun from her. His friends ran off. She ran into her son’s room and got another gun. She called the police, and the villain was arrested.
“Protecting yourself goes into our Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. And thousands of people died to give me the right that saved my life,” said Erin.
Did the gun prevent a worse crime?
Now we turn to Jerome McCorry. He’s the face of a protest outside Dayton’s Hara Arena. He’s not in favour of Bill Goodman’s Gun and Knife Show. The Datona Daily News notes:
“We know that guns are being sold on the floor inside Hara Arena illegally” said Jerome McCorry. “No background checks no identification of any kind.”
McCorry said “AK-47s and M16s are not gonna be used for hunting, they’re not going to be used to protect anybody. These are the weapons that are coming back and being used in mass murders and mass killings.”
Mr McCorry is a convicted rapist:
When Jerome bursts into your bedroom, you don’t need that much firepower, says the guy bursting into your bedroom. Senator Feinstein needs to bring Jerome down to D.C. as an expert witness so he can testify on just how much firepower a woman needs to defend herself from him. And maybe Piers Morgan can have him on too. Jerome McCorry is so passionate about keeping guns out of the hands of people who might shoot him that he spends a lot of time working on anti-gun activism.
If guns prevent rape, why is the reported incidence of rape in Sweden so high? Would the women (it’s mainly women who are victims) be better served if they had access to guns? Would the accused men be able to get a hearing? As for Mr McCorry, he’s turned his life around. Would it better that he’d been killed by his victim? Would she want to have a man’s death on her hands?
Instapundit writes: “Gun-Controlled Britain Has More Than Double U.S. Rape Rate. Why are Democrats pro-rape?”
Guns don’t give you options. They might just end them…
