Should Eric Joyce MP blame his violence on his Army past?
MAKE the link between two of today’s news stories:
…men who have served in the armed forces are three times more likely to have been convicted of violent offences than their civilian peers, according to a study published on Friday.
The report in the Lancet, the first to marry the experiences of almost 14,000 military personnel with details on the Police National Computer, also shows how troops who have been in combat are more likely to be involved in violent offending back in the UK.
And:
Eric Joyce, the MP for Falkirk ousted from the Labour party for his role in a brawl last year, was arrested last night after another fight in one of the House of Commons bars. Joyce, a former army major who is currently an independent MP, is said to have been arrested in the Sports and Social Club bar after police were called just after 10.30pm about a fight. Joyce, 52, was convicted of assault last year after he headbutted and punched a number of Tory politicians in the Commons bar. He later resigned from the Labour Party.
Any questions..?
