Kevin Ware suffers horrendous injury – TV camera keep rolling
KEVIN Ware suffered an horrendous injury playing basketball. His leg broke in two places. It’s a compound fracture of both the tibia and fibula. The bone moved 6 inches out of his skin.
Louisville Cardinals coach Rick Pitino spoke though tears:
“The bone’s 6 inches (152mm) out of his leg, and all he’s yelling is, ‘Win the game, win the game’. I’ve not seen that in my life.”
Louisville player Chane Behanan, adds:
“The bone was literally out. I saw white, it was literally out. I’ve never seen anything like that. I don’t remember the last time I cried.”
When Ware broke his leg, it was one-point game. After 10 minute hiatus, during which time Ware was taken to hospital, Louisville gathered themselves to beat Duke 85-63, to reach the semi-finals of the national tournament.
A rod has been inserted in his leg. He’s on the mend.
