Prince Charles drinking beer on the job – a career in pictures

by | 1st, April 2013

PRINCE Charles might have scarfed the cherry brandy when he was a bairn, but as an adult Charles prefers the beer. It’s always a pint. It’s always served in full view of the photographers. Camilla, if she’s there, also has a pint. It’s nice work if you can get it. The lunchtime drink was once the mainstay of British working life. It’s gone, replaced by a smart water, coffee and packaged sandwiches consumed at your work pod. Cheers, ears:

He was receiving his award from the all-party Parliamentary Beer Group, which gives the annual award to the public figure thought to have done most to promote beer. Politicians were said to have been impressed by Charles's support for pubs in rural communities in the wake of the foot-and-mouth crisis. The campaign was launched last December and more than 40 projects have since been established across Britain.
