Boston Bomber’s ex Nadine Ascencao says Tamerlan Tsarnaev heard the Devil taking through his TV

IN today’s episode of Why Tamerlan Tsarnaev detonated a bomb at the Boston Marathon murdering innocent woman and children, we hear from Nadine Ascencao, 24, who claims to have dated the killer.

In “My boyfriend the bomber”, we meet the “fanatic’s ex”.

What was he fanatic of? Islam? Tamerlan Tsarnaev left no jihadi suicide video behind. We’ve seen no messages of hate and vengeance.

They couple dated in 2006. The Sun says she was 17. The Sun does not say how old he was, just that he was 26 when he died. The impression is of an older controlling male. But he’s have been 17 or 18 at the time.

The Sun adds:

He said I was ‘pure’ and he took my virginity. I loved him but he slapped me and tried to brainwash me to hate US like he did

The Sun goes on to say that…

…he made her wear an Islamic hijab and pray to Allah and slapped her when she wore Western clothes. But she was so blindly in love with the handsome boxer who had taken her virginity, she did her utmost to make him happy.

She tells readers:

“I went to his mosque a couple of times and even looked into converting to make him happy. I thought, ‘This is crazy’ — but I still did it for him. Tamerlan had taken my virginity and said he loved me because I was pure and hadn’t been with any other guys. I was in love and scared he’d leave me if I didn’t do what he said. Looking back I had a lucky escape.”

He did not force her to convert. She looked into it. She did what he said because she was scared of being without him. We’re learning a lot more about her than we are about him.

During their three-year relationship she watched him change from a cannabis-smoking, party-loving teenager into a violent extremist.

This is what the Sun say about cannabis and plans to legalise it:

Sun GP Dr Carol Cooper said: “It’s clear the current drugs policy isn’t working. But it is a worry that many drugs are linked with mental health problems.”

Having made cannabis a symbol of youthful freedom, we hear from Nadine Ascencao:

“One minute he’s this funny, normal guy who liked boxing and having fun, the next he is praying four times a day, watching Islamic videos and talking insane nonsense… He wouldn’t let me watch TV or listen to the radio. He’d say, ‘TV is the project of Satan’ and claimed Satan sent us messages through commercial music.”

The jihadi is starting to look like a Schizophrenic. The Royal College of Physicians tells us about that condition:

Paranoid’ delusions

These are ideas that make you feel persecuted or harassed. They may be:
unusual – it feels as though MI5 or the government is spying on you. You may think that others are influencing you with special powers or technology.

Hallucinations

A hallucination happens when you hear, smell, feel or see something – but it isn’t caused by anything (or anybody) around you. The commonest one is hearing voices.
Feelings of being controlled

You feel that:
your thoughts have suddenly disappeared – as though someone has taken them out of your mind;
your thoughts feel as though they are not yours – it’s as though someone else has put them into your mind;
your body is being taken over, or that you are being controlled like a puppet or a robot.
Some people explain these experiences by thinking it’s the radio, television or laser beams, or that a device has been implanted in them. Other people blame witchcraft, angry spirits, God or the Devil.

‘Negative’ symptoms

You start to lose your normal thoughts, feelings and motivations.
You lose interest in life. Your energy, emotions and ‘get-up-and-go’ just drain away. It’s hard to feel excited or enthusiastic about anything.

It was Tamerlan Tsarnaevs’ father who told us:

Yes, he was in Makhachkala. Makhachkala, he was never out my sight. He used to sleep till lunchtime, then we visited relatives. We went to Chechnya to visit relatives. He only communicated with me and his cousins. There was nobody (else). People know. I would ask him, did you come here to sleep or what?

Back to the medics:

Loss of “insight”

It feels as though everyone else is wrong, that they just can’t understand the things that you can. You feel that the problem is with the rest of the world, not with you.

Who gets it?

It affects men and women equally and seems to be more common in city areas and in some ethnic minority groups. It is rare before the age of 15, but can start at any time after this, most often between the ages of 15 to 35.

Cannabis

The heavy use of cannabis seems to double the risk of developing schizophrenia. New research has shown that the stronger forms of cannabis, such as skunk, may increase this risk.
It’s more likely if you start using cannabis in your early teens.
If you have smoked it frequently (more than 50 times) during your teens, the effect is even stronger – you are 6 times more likely to develop schizophrenia.

Was the killer mentally ill? Maybe:

The couple even stopped having sex after he said it was wrong because they were not married.

Nadine adds:

“He hated my tight trousers and made me wear long skirts. Towards the end I was wearing a hijab. He once ripped a pair of my jeans and hit me in the face with them. Tamerlan told me I should only talk to Muslim girls, not other ‘slutty’ girls.”

And then this:

Besotted Nadine moved into a flat in the house where the Tsarnaev family lived to be near Tamerlan.

Whoah there Nadine.

And she was heartbroken when she learned he was secretly seeing another girl. Her rival was Katherine Russell, a student who was to become Tamerlan’s wife after converting to Islam. Crafty Tamerlan was soon playing the two women off against one another.

Was he? Well, Nadine says he was:

“He once made me learn a verse of an Islamic prayer and if I got it wrong he’d say, ‘Well Katherine can do it’.”

And:

Tamerlan even attacked Nadine when he found her heading off to a friend’s pool party wearing cut-off jeans and a crop top. She said: “He was shouting and screaming at me. He slapped me across the face really hard.”

Did she tell the police?

Nadine called the police and Tamerlan was arrested and spent a night in the cells. Once out on bail he begged Nadine’s forgiveness.

So. The FBI knew of him. and the police knew he could be violent.

But as soon as she dropped the charges Tamerlan dumped her and moved in with Katherine.

Oh, Nadine…

Nadine, who asked The Sun to obscure her face in photos for fear of reprisals, said: “When they said Tamerlan was dead, I didn’t cry. “I was more shocked Dzhokhar was involved. He was a nice kid.”

Reprisals from whom? We’re not told.

Such are the facts…
