Sweden riots: Police slap parking tickets on burnt out cars
THERE’S been a spate of rioting in Sweden. Every night since May 19, people in a mostly poor immigrant area have been smashing up and burning things. Then a police station in Rågsved was set alight.
What did the police do? Stockholm Chief of Police Mats Löfving told Expressen:
“Our ambition is really to do as little as possible. We go to the crime scenes, but when we get there we stand and wait”
Lars Byström, the media relations officer of the Stockholm Police Department, adds:
”If we see a burning car, we let it burn if there is no risk of the fire spreading to other cars or buildings nearby. By doing so we minimize the risk of having rocks thrown at us.”
Want to know what else they did? The Force gave the car-b-cued vehicles parking tickets.
