Jeremy Forrest gets five years jail for abducting a 15-year-old – Stuart Hall got 15 months for attacking a nine year old
JEREMY Forrest is tarting a five and a half year prison sentence for child abduction and sexual activity with a 15-year-old child. In court, he admitted five counts of sex with a child.
Judge Michael Lawson QC told Forrest:
“Your behaviour in this period has been motivated by self-interest and has hurt and damaged many people — her family, your family, staff and pupils at the school and respect for teachers everywhere. It has damaged you too but that was something you were prepared to risk. You now have to pay that price… It was your duty as a teacher to stop her infatuation not to fuel it. Your research into what might happen to you if you were caught is proof of the deliberate nature of your behaviour.”
He “groomed” the 15-year-old girl pupil and took her to France last year.
Forrest says he is “disgusted” and “ashamed” by his actions. Or is he just upset he got caught? Forrest mouthed to his teenaged lover “I love you” as he was sent down yesterday. That’s not exactly an act of contrition.
The child fancied him. He exploited it for sex. Any half decent looking teacher age 30, as Forrest is, should realise that teenage pupils might fancy him. His job is to ignore their doe-eyed looks and innuendo. The 15-year-old thinks they know it all. Forrest was expected to know better.
He’s married. The girl saw him lie to his wife over the phone. The man who lies so easily is not a good bet. She will realise that, in time.
The girl does not see herself as a victim. She’s not in the same class as the children assaulted by Stuart Hall or Jimmy Savile. Stinky Savile died before they could unmask him. Stuart lived long enough to get 15-months choky for assaulting kids, one as young as nine. His sentence now seems laughably light.
The girl’s mother was in court. She is now estranged from her daughter. She says:
“I feel the (daughter) I knew is dead and it upsets me beyond words.”
She issued an impact statement:
“I feel completely useless most of the time, I feel like I have failed as a parent as I cannot understand how someone could do this to my child and I had no idea… I feel like the worst mother in the world, whatever anyone else says it doesn’t matter. Someone has got my child and I never saw it coming and never saw it as it was happening. I feel like part of [her] childhood has been robbed from me, the last day at school, dressing her up in a party dress for the school prom, all taken from us…. My relationship will never be the same again, she is aiming all her anger at me, that she has to give evidence in court. Somehow that is all my fault, she thinks she cannot trust me again and she has gone to live elsewhere.”
She’s a teenager. She can grow out of it. Forrest is a lost cause…
