THE week-long San Fermin festival in Pamplona, Spain, is another chance for bulls to take their chance to gore an American tourist looking to live the event Ernest Hemingway made famous in his 1926 novel Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises. Since 1852 the Encierro has covered the route from Santo Domingo Street, through the Plaza Consistorial, along Estafeta Street via the zig-zagging Mercaderes Street. Since 1924, 15 runners have died on the run. Many, many more have been hurt. This is, after all, a tradition dating back to the 13th Century. The first recorded run was in 1592.
