Man sets new world record for swimming whilst tied up in a bag
ENCOURAGING news from Bulgaria for anyone worried about being tied up in a bag and tossed into the sea. Bulgarian Jane Petkov (crazy name, crazy guy) was placed in an orange sack, his arms and legs tied before being thrown into Lake Ohrid in Macedonia. He then swam more than 2km (1.25 miles) in two and three-quarter hours to create a new Guinness World record.
Says the 59-year-old:
“I was very cold for the first kilometre but after that it was all fine – no problem whatsoever. Had the water been warmer, I could have 10km or more.”
Next time he can try it in a warming concrete overcoat.
