Local Views: Liverpool Create No Chances As Arsenal Celebrate Easy Win
AFTER Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-0 in the Premier League it’s interesting to see what the clubs’ local newspaper say of the game:
Islington Gazette (Arsenal)
Santi Cazorla fired the Gunners ahead somewhat against the run of play on 19 minutes, lashing the ball home after his bullet header had come back off the post.
Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey then made sure of all three points on the hour when he cracked in a sublime 25-yard half-volley…
There is no word of any Liverpool chances. The North London local newspaper makes no mention of the referees decision not to allow play to continues after Luis Suarez was brought down.
Liverpool Echo
The Reds were controversially denied an equaliser… After being cynically brought down by Sagna, Suarez jumped to his feet to take a quick free-kick to Sturridge, who crossed for Henderson to convert from close range. However, to Rodgers’ obvious disgust on the touchline, referee Martin Atkinson pulled play back to issue Sagna a yellow card and made Liverpool take the free-kick again.
…
The Reds should have reduced the deficit but they squandered some golden chances.
Such are the facts.
