Just The Two Of Us: Photographs Of Cosplayers At Home
DO you like to dress up? If you do, do you consider it a form of acting? Are you just getting into character? What, dear boy, is your motivation?
Photographer Klaus Pitcher has produced a series of photographs capturing Austrian Cosplayers (actors?) at home. He says of Just The Two Of Us:
Who hasn’t had the desire just to be someone else for awhile? Dressing up is a way of creating an alter ego and a second skin which one’s behaviour can be adjusted to. Regardless of the motivating factors which cause somebody to acquire a costume, the main principle remains the same: the civilian steps behind the mask and turns into somebody else. ’Just the Two of Us’ deals with both: the costumes and the people behind them.
A couple of the costumes are spot on, taking the outfit and placing it in a jarring setting; the unicorn in the bath is a favourite:
