Spurs: The Sun Continues It’s Daily Attack On AVB
THE Sun continues its bid to portray Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas as a fool. In today’s paper, readers get:
JAN VERTONGHEN has taken a swipe at Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas in a clash over tactics.
Says the Belgian:
“It feels like that sometimes. I can play at left-back and I can help the team at times. But everyone knows I am not a left-back. Once there are injuries, I’m the first to fill in the gap. Sometimes it’s better if you can play in only one position. You see that with other players. These guys specialise in one position and they can completely concentrate.”
Number of times he mentions AVB: none. And what he says is hardly a shock. He plays better in the position he feels most comfortable playing in.
But to the Sun, this is a sign of AVB’s failing powers.
Vertonghen is the second Spurs player to criticise AVB in the past week. Emmanuel Adebayor told SunSport of his pain after being told to train with the kids after his brother’s death.
That would be the overpaid Adebayor who gave the Sun on Sunday its scoop a mere sevens weeks after AVB had said on September 12:
“At the moment Ade is not with us because we have granted him authorisation to stay in Togo until Monday for personal reasons. Up to when I find it appropriate, he will train with the development team.”
AVB might at times look like he’s making it up as he goes along, but Spurs are playing decent football and doing pretty well in the Premier League. His big problem, of course, is that he’s not Sun columnist Harry Redknapp, who was sacked by Spurs to make way for the younger broom.
