Crank Up The Journalisomobile: Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney Is Back With A Hooker
HACKING was illegal. Still is. The perpetrators didn’t erase Milly Dowler’s phone messages. But they did illegal things. The phone hacking trial is well underway at the Old Bailey. And today we hear the name Patricia Tierney. Now 57, in 2004 Tierney was on the front desk at Diva’s massage parlour in Liverpool when Everton and later Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney came knocking.
The News of the World got wind of the story. Today in a statement, Ms Tierney said:
“This incident, which is not true, was alleging I had a sexual encounter with Wayne Rooney and that he paid me for sex on a particular night when I was working at a massage parlour. I do recall Wayne Rooney visiting a massage parlour with a number of other males. Several days later he came on his own. On this occasion I pushed him into a room and told him he ought to put his hat down and get out of the massage parlour before he was destroyed and that his career was over with.”
The Sunday Mirror broke the news.
The court heard that Ms Tierney was on private investigator Glenn Mulcaire’s target list. He did not hack into her voice messages. But he did manage to discover that Rooney’s voicemail password was… Stella Artois. She is not a hooker but a brand of lager.
The trial continues.
PS: Is paying for sex big news? UIs paying for kiss ‘n’ tells worth it? We;re minded of the The Daily Mail’s comments on Wayne Rooney’s women:
Miss Wood, 23, a university lecturer’s daughter, and Miss Thompson, 21, the privately-educated child of a wealthy oil company executive, have turned out to be flag-bearers for the celebrity-mad, lascivious culture that has consumed the nation.
And then at the foot of the page:
