Cheryl Cole Wins Money For Doing No X Factor work
CELEBRITIES live in a wonderfully weird world. Look at Cheryl Cole for example, who just got a load of money for not doing any work. She’s won a payout from producers of X factor USA, after she got dropped from the show after just one episode because she’s got an accent.
It was widely rumoured and reported that she got the chop because producers thought that Americans wouldn’t be able to understand her when she spoke with her Geordie accent.
She sued production company Blue Orbit for for £1.4m for loss of earnings and now the case has now been settled out of court, with the Girls Aloud member accepting a lovely undisclosed sum.
Nice not work, if you can get it.
If you recall, she was originally signed up as a judge for two series of Simon Cowell’s TV show, but soon enough, she found she was replaced by Nicole Scherzinger. Schacrappy, for Cole.
According to legal papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Cole was due to receive a salary of $1.8m for the first series and a further $2m for the second. However, she didn’t get a dime. Not to mention her claim that she’d not been paid expenses, which include $100,000 for a clothing allowance, a $25,000 allowance for her stylist, $15,000 per month for digs in L.A. and a $2,500 monthly living allowance.
A spokesperson for Cole told the BBC: “Cheryl’s dispute with Blue Orbit has been resolved amicably”.
When us normal folk fall out about money with bosses, bridges are burned. However, Simon Cowell has been dropping huge hints that both he and Cole will return to the UK version of the show. So what have we learned? Work in TV and sue people to get more work!
Hurray.
