Turin-Lyon Train Riots: Nina De Chiffre Charged With Sexual Violence For Kissing Policeman’s Helmet (Photos)
“I WANTED to make fun of them [the police], and I would say that we were successful,” said Nina De Chiffre, a 20-year-old protestor from Milan. She was demonstrating in Turin against a high-speed train link between Turin and Lyon. During the protests, De Chiffre kissed the helmet of riot officer Salvatore Piccione.
“I wanted that policeman to remember what happened to Marta from Pisa,” added De Chiffre. “Last July, she was beaten, with no consequences for the officers.”
Piccione was professional. His age is not given in any report. He says: “When I’m wearing my uniform I represent the police institution, and I have an obligation not to react to provocation. The important thing is that, in the end, the demonstration went ahead without disturbance.”
And then Franco Maccari, the Secretary General of Coisp, the Italian police officers’ union, announced that he has pressed charges against De Chiffre for sexual assault.
He says that had a police officer kissed a protestor, “World War Three would have broken out… Or what if I had patted her on the behind? She would have been outraged. So if she does that to a man on duty, should it be tolerated? We’re tired of taking blows from the No TAV group – and not just from them. Today, protesting is a sacred right, but when they overstep the line of legality, there can be no flexibility.”

The protest has been going on for years.
