Jack White And Neil Young To Team Up For Grumpiest LP Ever Recorded?

by | 20th, January 2014

APPARENTLY Neil Young and Jack White have teamed-up for an album of covers. Seeing as this is two of the most miserable singers on the planet, you can only imagine the size of the raincloud over the studio while they recorded.

We can only hope that Morrissey and Van Morrison get together in a bid to outdo this hugely glum record.

The album is said to include songs by their favourite songwriters and Young didn’t just use White’s studio, rather, the pair actually made the record together with a rumoured tracklist featuring Dylan’s Blowin’ In The Wind, Tim Hardin’s Reason To Believe, Gordon Lightfoot’s Early Morning Rain and Ivory Joe Hunter’s Since I Met You Baby as well as Needle Of Death, by the late Bert Jansch.

Earlier this month, Jack White had said he was in the middle of working on two different albums. “I’m producing two records this month, and finishing them. One of them is mine.”

He then tripped over his long face.

Of course, this could be a really fun record as White and Young are both wholly dedicated to being audiophiles, recording things ‘right’ and being authentic.

While this is usually really annoying and pious, for some reason, this pair will probably get away with it. Hopefully there’ll be some more interesting cover songs away from Dylan covers.
