Arsenal Balls: Wenger And The Monaco Exclusive That Isn’t
IS Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger heading back to Monaco. The Sun says he might be:
The “exclusive” runs:
ARSENAL were last night rocked as Arsene Wenger was offered the Monaco job. The Gunners boss is out of contract at the end of the season but has still not signed a new deal.
Go on…
And moneybags Monaco have moved in with a massive £10million-a-year offer AFTER tax to try and lure their former boss back home.
So. Rich club with few fans offers successful manager massive money to manage them. And Wenger will do what? Well, he’d already told one and all:
“I told you many times, my word is my word and I’m from a period where you didn’t need a pen to commit. It’s not linked with the FA Cup at all.”
And it was way back in October 20-014 that Wenger agreed a two-year extension to his £7.5m-a- year deal. And he just told Eurosport:
“(The contract) is not totally done but it should be soon.”
As for it being an “exclusive”, the Sun must have missed the Independent’s news of April 25:
Monaco would offer Wenger an annual salary of €15million (£12.3m), putting him among the highest-paid coaches in world football.
And the Mail’s shocker of April 26:
Monaco hope to tempt Arsene Wenger with massive £22m a year deal to leave Arsenal
Such are the facts.
