TRANSFER Balls: The summer so far with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
May27, Evening Standard: “Eden Hazard rejects talk of PSG switch”
Eden Hazard today dismissed the possibility of moving to Paris Saint Germain this summer…
He did?
Asked about the link with PSG, he said: “If you got to know me you’d know I’m not someone who is disturbed by it. Every year they say I’m everywhere. It’s part of the job. I focus on the World Cup which is much more important than what is said in the papers.”
No. He didn’t. He just gave a diplomatic response the question.
June 4, 2014, The Sun: “PSG £100m for Eden”
EXCLUSIVE By ANDREW DILLON
CHELSEA are braced for a £100million tug-of-war with Paris Saint-Germain over superstar Eden Hazard.
The mega-rich French club plan to make a £60m bid, plus hand a lucrative long-term deal to the Belgium playmaker.
Hazard, 23, will be offered a five-year contract worth around £150,000 a week — £39m in total.
TalkSport needs its own exclusive, so it tinkers the number to look a bit more knowing:
Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer £61m to prise away Eden Hazard from Chelsea.
In the Guardian, it’s all nods and winks:
PSG target Eden Hazard drops hint over Chelsea future
In-demand Eden Hazard has dropped a big hint that he will be staying at Chelsea next season. Hazard is wanted by Paris Saint-Germain this summer but announced on the official Blues website that he will be wearing the number 10 shirt in 2014-15.
And the hint?
The Belgian superstar, who previously wore the number 17, will take over the jersey from Juan Mata following his transfer to Manchester United in January.
“I am very pleased to be able to wear the number 10 for Chelsea,” Hazard said. “It is my favourite number and is one I am used to wearing for the national team, as well as the one worn by some of my heroes from when I was a kid, like Zinedine Zidane. I hope it brings me a lot of luck in the future and I look forward to the fans seeing me in it next season.”
Hazard will remain at Chelsea because his favourite number is 10? Yes, says the Guardian:

Back to that £60m story…. The Mirror notes some match by Switzerland-based CIES Football Observatory:
According to the Daily Mail, the price tag of each player is worked out after considering a range of variables including age, the length of contract remaining, position and international experience… Chelsea’s Belgium star Eden Hazard, 23, is reckoned to be worth at least £61.2, making him the fourth most valuable man on the list.
