JK Rowling Thinks Phone Hackers Are ‘Dicks’

AFTER the mind-melting success of the Harry Potter books, JK Rowling is able to do as she pleases. She’s clearly still got a huge love for writing and, as we know, she’s got balls bigger than Godzilla.

So, in her next novel, she’s decided to have a go at those responsible for phone-hacking.

Rowling’s second crime thriller (which is written under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith) will use her own experiences under oath at the Leveson Inquiry after she suffered at the hands of press intrusion.

In ‘The Silkworm’, the story kicks off with private detective Cormoran Strike supplying details to a journalist of a scandalous affair between a member of the House of Lords and his secretary. Ooooh. In the opening chapter, we see the journalist ask Strike how he persuaded the woman to talk to him. “I listened,” he replies, prompting the reporter to get snippy in return: “All the other private dicks I use spend their time hacking phone messages.”

Strike, hammering the point home, warns that phone-hacking as “illegal”, okay kiddies?

This new book, out on 19th June if you’re in the market for it, sees Strike tracking down a nasty killer who has murdered novelist Oscar Quine. The names, it seems, are all set to be as ludicrous as some of those featured in Harry Potter’s universe, which is rather nice.

This tale follows Rowling’s first Galbraith novel, ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’, which was released last year to rather good reviews. Looks like there might be some more film work knocking about.
