Transfer Balls: Hazard Quits Chelsea In Private But Commits To Them In Public
TRANSFER Balls: Today the Press is full of news that Eden Hazard is not leaving Chelsea. It’s a no-news omniscoop.
The Manchester Evening News says Manchester United and Manchester City’s “hopes” of signing Hazard have been “dashed”. Indeed, as the Express notes:
Eden Hazard will snub PSG’s advances to sign a new deal at Chelsea.
The Mirror says there is not a chance Hazard will “100%” be staying at Chelsea.
But what did he actually say?
“I am staying at Chelsea 100 per cent.”
That’s it, then. He stays!
“Of course in football you never know… “
The Indy is suitably circumspect:
PSG target appears to confirm that he will remain at Chelsea next season
To which Hazard says:
“PSG never made any suggestions to me personally.”
But you must have read the Mirror’s scoop on May 19:
Eden Hazard is PSG’s ‘number one target’
One day than that, the Guardian noted:
PSG, meanwhile, will only move for Di María if they fail to land their No1 target, who remains Eden Hazard, for whom the club are prepared to offer £50m, a mere two-and-a-half times the amount they were fined for violating financial fair play rules.
And the Metro announced:
Eden Hazard ‘tells friends he will quit Chelsea and join PSG in the summer’
And on April 5, the Evening Standard reported:
Eden Hazard says wife could persuade him to leave Chelsea for Paris St-Germain. Chelsea star announces on French TV that he could be Paris-bound this Summer
What says Eden’s dad? On June 5, The Week told us:
“I read transfer news on Eden every day, but at this moment nothing has happened,” said Hazard senior. There have been rumours in Europe that Paris Saint-German are lining up an eye-watering £73m offer for the 23-year-old playmaker, but Thierry snapped: “There will be no transfer news during the World Cup.”
Wanna bet?
More Transfer Balls every day.
