Transfer Balls: Cheated Out Of His Arsenal Move Liverpool Want Luis Suarez To Shun Barcelona
TRANSFER Balls – with the Daily Luis Suarez. Can the news media make exclusives and news from nothing?
ESPN: “Liverpool insist Suarez will stay put”
Sources have told ESPN that Liverpool are not resigned to losing the striker after he told manager Brendan Rodgers at the end of last season that he was committed to the club.
These sources are all unnamed.
…it’s only the lure of clubs of Barcelona and Real Madrid’s stature that could ever prise Suarez away from Merseyside.
That would be the Suarez who last summer was keen on a move to Arsenal? After all, it was Metro that said:
What did Suarez say back then? Well:
“Last year I had the opportunity to move to a big European club and I stayed on the understanding that if we failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season I’d be allowed to go,” he revealed. “I gave absolutely everything last season but it was not enough to give us a top-four finish – now all I want is for Liverpool to honour our agreement.”
This summer, he’s been talking again:
The Star:
LUIS SUAREZ has told his agent Pere Guardiola that he wants to join Barcelona.
ESPN:
Speaking on Catalan radio show Esports en Xarxa, Gabri – who was with Suarez at the Dutch club from 2007 to 2010 – said that his friend had always wanted to play for Camp Nou club. “He has always had in his head that someday he would be [a Barcelona player],” Gabri said. “I believe that he would be a great signing for Barca. He would adapt very quickly, very well, and would fit in very well inside the club. Also he has his wife’s family living in Barcelona.”
Liverpool’s efforts to hold on to Luis Suárez were put under further pressure after his father-in-law claimed the striker should join Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Gustavo Balbi said England’s World Cup conqueror had “nothing left to prove” in his adopted country, adding substance to reports that the 27-year-old plans to quit Anfield for Spain this summer. English football’s player of the season, who will be trying to help Uruguay beat Italy in England’s World Cup Group D tonight, signed a new 4½-year contract only last December after failing to force a move to Arsenal almost 12 months ago….
“It is the right time for a change,” Balbi told La Sexta. “He has nothing left to prove in England. The best solution would be if he were to go to Spain. We want him close to us. It does not matter which team he signs for.”
And this in the Mirror:
Suarez himself has stood by the claim he is not respected in England.
After his two goals against the Three Lions, the Uruguayan claimed they were revenge for people questioning his attitude and he was again unrepentant when asked to explain.
He said: “Everybody knows that I was elected the best player of the year. I guess this is very obvious and even the people in the Premier League voted for me and then, if the papers vote for me as well, that is sensational.
“But what happened before the match – I did not want to attack anybody, only some media started making fun of me and you are in the media. You are in the media, you should know what happened and why they did that to me.”
And finally:
Liverpool fans threaten SUICIDE if Luis Suarez is sold to Barcelona
But if he stays other fans have vowed to murder him, his wife and his kids…
More Balls every fay…
