TRANSFER Balls: Loic Remy has left QPR to join Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. Now read on…
The Daily Express has news:
According to West London Sport, 27-year-old Remy rejected a new contract at QPR on Friday and will undergo a medical at Chelsea tomorrow. But those plans could change as Arsenal put their hat in the ring, with Wenger likely to descend into a bidding war with Mourinho for Remy’s services.
No need for any war. The Mail says Loic Remy has joined Chelsea for £8m. The paper announced:
Loic Remy has completed a move to Chelsea from QPR
And then the Mail says nothing is agreed:
Chelsea are close to agreeing terms with Remy after meeting the Frenchman’s £8m release clause – but on Saturday night Arsenal contacted QPR to confirm that they too would pay £8m and will now attempt to persuade the player to join them.
Arsene Wenger will have a natural advantage as a compatriot of the player and Remy, 27, has spent much of the summer holding out for a move to The Emirates and was pictured at games there at the end of last season.
Although, the Express said Remy was “dreaming” of Chelsea.
And, then, Remy was once upon a time on his way to Liverpool. But he failed to medical. The Indy looks back:
The Independent on Sunday understands that Liverpool consulted several eminent cardiologists before pulling out of the deal.
That again raises a big question. During Rémy’s transfer from Nice to Marseille in 2010, Marseille announced that MRI scans had discovered “an anomaly” on the wall of his heart. Yet following consultations with a panel of five leading specialists in the field, Marseille, unlike Liverpool, went through with the transfer.
The 27-year-old Rémy has since been the subject of two moves, passing medicals at QPR and Newcastle. He was also approved to play at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil following a compulsory Fifa health inspection.
QPR manager Harry Redknapp say Remy has gone to Chelsea
“I’m not criticising him. He’s gone to Chelsea, Champions League and whatever … it’s a fantastic opportunity for the boy and it’s difficult to turn down.”
Of course, Remy already agreed to join Arsenal:
Such are the facts…
