One day later, the Daily Star knows why Arsenal bought Danny Welbeck from Manchester United. Arsenal fans should ‘Blame” the Pope? So says David Woods (yep, him again):

Blame? Oh, yes that utter balls that Arsenal signed Welbeck by accident.

The Gunners signed Welbeck from Manchester United on deadline day while boss Wenger was in Rome for a charity football match, at the invitation of Pope Francis. Had he been at home Wenger reckons he would have only signed Welbeck on loan instead of handing him a five-year-deal.

No. That’s not what he said.
