TRANSFER Balls: Arsenal are the “shock” favourites to sign PSG’s Edinson Cavani. Well, according to the Daily Star they are.
How does the Star know this? Because it’s called Paddy Power to get the odds on a betting market that must be in the single digits and calculated that the Gunners are now the “bookies favourite to land the Uruguayan” next year.
According to Paddy Power Arsenal are at shorter odds to get Cavani than Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid. But thsoe odds could change should, say, a Manchester United fan place a tenner on Cavani heading to Old Trafford or £20 on his heading to Hull.
It’s an utterly meaningless statistic.
And it’s in the Press, which told us a lot about the Uruguayan.
