‘Bigamous’ Newcastle United Player Cheick Tiote Plays Three Back Home
NEWCASTLE United midfileder Cheick Tiote “has two wives …and a mistress”, says the Sun.
The paper says Tiote recently married Doukrou Laeticia in his native Ivory Coast. But, reprotedly, he is also married to Madeh, with whom he shares a home in Ponteland, Newcastle. And he keeps a mistress, Nikki Mpofu, who gave birth to a baby one year ago and lives in the same area.
But Madeh “has now ditched him after seeing pictures of the ace marrying Doukrou on the internet”.
The Sun adds:
Although having more than one wife is illegal in the UK, it is accepted in Tiote’s homeland.
Accepted but illegal:
Polygamy is outlawed under Article 2 of the Civil Code, and has been since 1964… According to UNICEF, in 1998 34.8 per cent of women over all, and 23.5 per cent of girls aged 15-19 were in polygynous unions.
We then hear from Madeh, who is upset:
“I was stunned when I saw he had married a second wife. He told me he would marry me. He met my mum and said he’s permitted to have several wives. I was comfortable with that. I never thought he’d marry someone else behind my back.”
So says the mistress.
