TRANSFER Balls: The Express leads with news that Madrid’s Iker Casillas wants to play for Arsenal or Liverpool.
Really?
REAL MADRID legend Iker Casillas has revealed his desire to play abroad, with English duo Arsenal and Liverpool believed to be interested.
Jamie Anderson does not say how this belief came to be known.
What did Casillas say?
“I’d love to have an experience abroad to bring more value to Real Madrid.”
Got that? He said he’d like to have an overseas club on his CV because theat would make him a better Real Madrid player.
He then adds:
“I can’t understand my life without Real Madrid.”
He loves Real. He cannot imagine life away from the club.
And having linked the player to Arsenal, Anderson then questions the value of that move:
Many Gunners fans will question Wenger’s decision to pursue Casillas, especially considering his turbulent World Cup campaign in-which he apologised for Spain’s 5-1 drubbing at the hands of the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have made no offers for Casillas.
The arrival of David Ospina alongside Wojciech Szczesny will make it almost impossible for Casillas to force his way into Wenger’s plans.
