Transfer Balls: Sami Khedira Heads To Arsenal Before Moving To Manchester City And Back To Chelsea
TRANSFER Balls: Anorak’s look at football speculation passed off as sensation and fact. Let’s see ehat the mesi has been saying about Sami Khedira and his move from Real Madrid to Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City or anywhere else.
It sesm that Arsenal need Khedira most, with former Gunner Perry Groves (he of the Perry Groves world) quoted in the Evening Standard:
“If Arsenal can get their injured players back while making sure the gap to the top doesn’t get too big with Chelsea and City then they have a chance to challenge for the title. If they can get to within six or seven points by the time the January transfer window opens and then sign Khedira, they could win it.”
Arsenal fans will agree that the team could do with a battling midfielder. The team’s players seem to agree. The Standard reports:
Arsenal’s German stars have urged Sami Khedira to join them at the Emirates in January. The Real Madrid midfielder — who nearly joined the Gunners during the summer — has stayed in contact with his international team-mates, Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil.
And it’s that German connection that could now persuade Khedira to even take a pay cut to resurrect his on-off move.
And Kehdir wants to play for Arsenal. Well, so says the Metro:
Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has dropped his wage demands to just £80,000-a-week in a bid to seal his proposed transfer to Arsenal… reports in Italy say the German is doing everything he can to make a transfer happen, and has now lowered his wage demands in a bid to push a deal through. AC Milan, Manchester United and Chelsea have also made approaches for Khedira, but all recent suggestions are that he favours a switch to the Emirates Stadium.
But the Express told us:
…Arsenal have agreed in principle an £11million move to land Khedira in January. It is believed the midfielder will be paid £140,000-a-week at the Emirates.
That was the Express that also noted that Khedira was off to play for Bayern Munich:
The German champions should have no problem in matching the 27-year-old’s astronomical £120,000 per-week wages.
But then the Star adds that Khedira could go pretty much anywhere:
The German international is likely to be one of the most sought-after players in the January transfer window as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been credited with an interest in securing his services.
Such are the facts…
