Matthew Williams Caerphilly Cannibal: Did Police Arrest A Man They’d Just Killed?

by | 7th, November 2014

THE papers report on Matthew Williams and a hideous crime at the Sirhowy Arms Hotel in Argoed, Caerphilly.

Matthew Williams is on the Daily Star’s cover:

The story has been embellished in fine style.

That Zombie is a living man, albeit one now dead.

The maniac – said to be high on cocaine – collapsed when hit by the high-voltage Taser. He was then found to be “unresponsive” and was later pronounced dead by medics.

The story might be that police killed a man, that Tasers can kill; that Tasers are bloody dangerous.

But that can wait.

Matthew Williams, 34, was said to be acting like flesh-devouring film villain Hannibal Lecter. Security guards burst into his room after he refused them entry and saw him “eating to death” his 22-year-old victim.

That “girl” is a 22-year-old woman. The Star is playing games, suggesting that the victim was a child.

They said he was chewing on her eyeball “like a Creme Egg”. He then ate half her face while in a “zombie-like” state.

All disgusting.

But what about this? To go with the police’s role in a suspect’s death, the Star adds:

Williams, nicknamed Fifi , had served half of a five-year prison sentence for an attack on his ex-partner who lives nearby. He was staying at the hotel, which is currently used as a bail hostel for recently released offenders, and had taken his victim back there for a drink.

So. A known violent man was in a room with a woman, which is against the rules. And that home has security.

The Telegraph has more on Williams’ death:

He was formally arrested but moments later became “unresponsive” and died.

Was he formely arrested when lying prone on the ground, having been shot with 50,000 volts of pacifier?

The Indy adds:

Gwent Police confirmed that the man was shot with a Taser and then arrested, and that while under arrest the man “became unresponsive”…

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “While under arrest, the man became unresponsive. Officers and paramedics administered first aid but he has since been pronounced deceased.

We were called at 1.23am yesterday after a report that a man was attacking a woman.

“On arrival both the male and female were still at the location.

“A Taser was discharged and a man was arrested.

“The woman was located with injuries and has since been pronounced deceased.”

And the police:

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been called in to investigate Williams’ death because he was in police custody after being tasered. A spokeswoman for the watchdog said: “The IPCC is independently investigating an incident overnight in Blackwood in which a man and a woman have died. “Gwent Police referred the incident to the IPCC.”

Williams sounds like a violent lunatic. But what about those Tasers?

Home Office data showed Tasers were used 10,488 times in the 12 months to the end of June – a 13 per cent increase compared with the 9,289 on the previous year. Over that period, police zapped 1,693 people with Tasers – equivalent to shooting five people a day.

Every one one of them guilty…right?
