This Christmas why not sit back and liten to the sounds of former Coverntry City, Aston Villa, Norwich City and Manchester United footballer Dion Dublin? It’s for charity.

And it might be pretty good. Dion has muscial roots.

His father Eddie is a professional musician. And, no, his dad was not a pop star. How many times has he been asked about the rumour Eddie dad was in Showaddywaddy? Says Dion:

“It’s now 428,000 times. That rumour started a long time ago, but no, he wasn’t!”

He says:

“I’ve got three brothers, one’s a lead guitarist, one’s a bass guitarist and one’s a drummer. My father plays bass and my mum’s played mandolin.”

Eddie’s a Leicester City lad, playing with Stonepark:

In 1992, he began playing the saxophone.

“There were moments when I needed music. One was before I arrived at the stadium, there was a piece by Tchaikovsky that I used to listen to, but what piece it was I don’t know. A very common piece of music, with a big crescendo towards the end, so I used to listen to that all the time. But when I’m running as in training and jogging, my breathing has to be in a rhythm with my footsteps. My feet and my breathing are working together.”

In 2011, Dion invented The Dube, a cube-shaped percussion instrument.
