Sruth Boston: Stand up for free speech and get called a fascist
At the free speech demo in Boston, YouTuber Sruth Boston is talking with Antifa, the group on the progressive far left. Turns out they’re not all that into progress.
The video below illustrates the question: how do you protect free speech on both sides – especially when, as we saw in Charlottesville, one side is heavily armed and intimidating? It’s tricky. But you’ve got to stick to the idea that free speech is just that. No buts. Defending the speech you hate is free speech.
But what we’re seeing is an impulse to override free speech with a commitment to diversity, equality and anti-discrimination. Those causes are being elevated over the need for free speech. And that’s dangerous.
