Shaun Ryder’s Happy Monday For Darling’s Black Monday

In “Alistair Darling what a tw*t”, Ryder, whose Happy Mondays band provided a 1980s antidote to Black Monday, tells fiscally minded Daily Sport readers:

Darling is “one of those people who hasn’t just got a face you want to punch, he’s got a name you want to punch as well.”

It’s a double whammy.

“I hate Chancellors…Ok, Tony Blair might have invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, been embroiled in the alleged cash for honours affirm and changed politics for spin. But Gordon Brown was that c*** who out 9p on a packet of fags.”

Watch your language, Ryder. Alleged, indeed.

He continues: “Ever since 1215 when the Magna Carta was signed and income tax invented prices have gone up.”

And then for added historical accuracy: “In 1217 there was outrage when the price of a pint of fermented turnip juice went up from two shekels and a sheep’s bullock to two shekels and a donkey-clacker.”

All is illustrated by a picture of the Dali Lama pointing a finger in the manner of a shaven headed Alan Sugar and concluding: “11p on 20 fags? You’re a tw*t, Darling.”

Fags for nothing…
