Obama Opts For Corrigan Brothers As Swindon-Americans Rejoice

by | 9th, January 2009

LONDON-based Irish band The Corrigan Brothers have been invited to perform their song “There’s No One as Irish as Barack O’Bama” at this month’s Presidential Inauguration Ceremony in Washington DC on January 20th.

The band, based in green Notting Hill will perform on the “Irish American float”, and again in the evening at Barack’s inauguration party.

Obama’s ancestor Falmouth Kearney, was born in Moneygall, County Offaly before emigrating to the U.S. in 1850.

Anorak wonders how far Americans are allowed to retrace their roots to make a genuine claim to ethnicity? Since we all came from the Garden of Eden – right on, America – are not they all Swindon-Americans, children of the cradle of man?
