TMZ’s Beyond Twisted Replaced By New Reality Show
CORPORATE gossip site TMZ has moved into television with Beyond Twisted. It’s a show that was a popular, as, well, TMZ’s snappers. The executive producer has already been axed. What now?
Anorak’s Man in The Hollywood Swamp takes a look:
Two weeks was all it took for Warner Brothers’ syndication arm, Telepictures, to pull the plug on the TMZ companion show “Beyond Twisted.”
Ratings for the show have been beyond bad. During the week ending July 12, according to Broadcasting & Cable magazine, it lost 39% of it’s lead-in audience.
Now, it’s being quietly replaced by another experimental reality-type program.
The suits aren’t saying much about the replacement show, and sources tell Rumor Rat that’s because even they don’t know anything specific about it.
Honcho Harvey Levin, who created “Twisted” is said to be promising Telepictures something more TMZ-like.
One source tells The Rat that Harvey and his henchmen are burning the midnight oil like mad scientists desperate to come up for a magic miracle formula.
Somehow the rat-pack suspects this new creation will include more face-time for Harvey.
As a title for the new show, might The Rat suggest “One-Trick Pony?”
